A 22-year-old man from Chipungu village in Mungule area, Zambia was axed to death in his sleep by his estranged wife in the wee hours of today.
The heartless wife, Violet Mvula, 20, has since been arrested for killing her husband following a marital dispute.
Police Spokesperson Esther Mwaata Katongo told reporters that the couple had a marital dispute on Sunday, 20th November, 2016 which led tothe manbeating up the wife.
“Today, while the husband was asleep, the wife then axed him in the head and he sustained deep cuts,” Katongo reports.
”The victim died on the way to UTH in Lusaka.”Katongo says the body is in UTH mortuary awaiting postmoterm while the wife is detained in police custody.
“We call upon all stakeholders in the fight against Gender Based Violence to get involved in sensitisation campaigns so as to discourage this scourgewhich is now becoming the order of the day,” says Katongo.
Katongo notes that every single life is precious and should be treated as such.
